HS 14.11.2011 on juttu Puolustusvoimien ruokahuollon yksityistämisestä. Haastateltu Julkisten ja hyvinvointialojen liiton toimialajohtaja Pirjo Mäkinen sanoo: "Kaikki työehdot huomioon ottaen olemme arvioineet, että kyse on jopa 20 prosentin heikennyksestä, jos esimerkiksi vuosilomat lyhenevät."

Tämän olen kertonut useasti: On olemassa kuvatunlaisia palkkaetuja, joita Tilastokeskuksen palkkavertailut eivät tunnista. Kun esimerkiksi kunnissa noin 80 % työvoimasta on naisia, on kyseessä merkittävä tasa-arvoiseen palkkavertailuun vaikuttava seikka.

Siksi on mieletöntä yrittää verrata esim. sairaanhoitajien (julk) palkkoja insinöörien (yks) palkkoihin, jos näitä piiloetuuksia ei huomioida, ja sitähän Tilastokeskuksen palkkatilastot eivät tee.

Hello, I am writing from Seattle, home of Victoria Liss.

I cannot read Finnish, so I don't know what your feelings are.

At any rate, many local people here have lost track of what is the core issue at stake in this story.

Some are trying to suggest that Victoria Liss's past is relevant somehow. Others are trying to suggest that the amount of Drew Meyer's tip ($0.00) is relevant. Still others are trying to suggest that Victoria had no right to post the receipt on the internet, when indeed she had every right to do as she pleased with a personal message given to her, on the stationery of the writer's choosing.

Some have tried to measure the importance of the incident by Victoria Liss's personal appearance or her character, when none of that matters either.

Drew Meyer's message on the bottom of his check was akin to a racial slur, only it related instead to appearances. The logic of others is parallel to documenting someone of a minority race committing actual 'crimes' and then, based on those crimes, somehow justifying a reference to her by a racial slur.

Just because Americans Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton don't race across the continent to stand by her side, doesn't mean that such a slur is somehow justifiable.

I hope this makes sense to anyone there who can read english.
